Cool Pictures from Suffolk (VA) Raceway Reunion 5/26/07

Hey Guys, I've got some pics here to share from the Suffolk Raceway Reunion that was held this Memorial Day weekend.  That would be Suffolk VA. The track was up and running from I'm guessing the mid to early 60's until it closed in the late 80's. Some of the greatest drag racers known have raced here. The late Ronnie Sox's wife was at the reunion. The track existed on a runway at the old Suffolk Airport. It was an awesome 1/4 mile concrete drag strip!! The turnout was awesome with I'm guessing 700-800 folks with hundreds of muscle cars, rat rods, classics and of course the original drag racers from back in the day. I used to race a '73 Barracuda there. Enjoy the pictures!!

My favorite car there was the electric green '49 Mercury. I know, I know, it wasn't a Mopar, but an absolutely incredible car inside & out. I took more pics of it than I posted. The Desoto parked next to it was my 2nd favorite. It had a 392 hemi!! An all round awesome show!!

The '49 Mercury is VERY popular to the hot-rodding gang. It does look good and mean when chopped a bit and lowered.
