I bought my truck new in 86 and after 227k+ on the original 318 2bbl it's time for a fresh motor. I picked up an 87 360 (and its torque converter) out of a similar 87 D250 last year. My engine guy is supposed to get my truck friday and have it back to me sunday. He asked me "do you want it built tight or loose" and i said tight. It'll even have working A/C for the first time in several years
.
He installed on the front of each head what he called 'bullet' freeze plugs - saying if it experiences any serious heat buildup, they're designed to pop out. Any of ya's had experience with them before? Also other stuff like Melling, Clevite, Perfect Circle, and Mopar Performance with Double Springs in either the intake or exhaust valves - i forget exactly which he said. Can anyone verify if i have '308' heads? The only thing close to a part or casting number that i noticed is the 4343475 in the one pic. I wish i knew more about the mechanical side of things so's i could make better sense to everyone but i'm just happy to be this close to being able to get in my truck and going where i want when i want
I've had myself in a tight for quite some time now, but little by little things are finally getting right
