Welding Sheet Metal Over Previous Brazing?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone out there has experience welding over brass alloy
brazing? The quarter I want to replace with a new piece from Goodmark, was
replaced as an accident repair once before but instead of welding it in place
they brazed it. Will the contaminated metal cause me a problem like in the door
jam area where I'm forced to weld to used metal? Is there a proper way to clean
that up so I can get decent welds? I need to replace it due to rust and also they
cut it into the C-pillar very low, with a huge nasty overlap, from about the trunk
opening corner to the bottom back corner of the quarter window! From inside the trunk
it looks like...    Any suggestions would be welcome!!  Jeff

All brazing will have to be removed. Wire weld will not adhere to the braze and it puts off a nasty and dangerous gas. Same goes with welding near lead. I usually grind the brazing off with a 2" 36 grit Roloc disc on an angle grinder. Be carefull not to thin or blue the steel.

As usual, cut out the bad, weld in the good.  It is worth the extra effort in the long run.

Fishn4cuda; Thank you for the suggestion. grinding that brass off without thinning the metal
will be a job but necessary to get decent welds.

Ksierens; Everything should be new except for the door jam, tail panel and outerwheelhouse. The outerwheelhouse
to quarter joint looks like they just spot brazed that vs a continuous joint. I won't hesitate to replace that though if its
farther gone then what it looks like now. Will just clean it up the best I can and see what happens. Thanks both for the input! Jeff
