Hot air - direction..???
« on: June 20, 2007 - 07:27:25 AM »

I'm under the dash, - have been all afternoon.. Electrical and air probs..

Now, - the plastic box, with the fan inside, is missing a connection to the plastic "tube" that leads the air to the defroster, a gap of about an inch.. Normal, something missing, or very bad line up..???

I have a question Cowboy. Has the dash or heater box been out and you are now reinstalling everything or what?

Well, after looking at your pics and looking at vent and heater parts I have around. It does just look like things are not lined up. The defrost vent may not be down as far as it should be. The heater box may not be up as far as it should be. Or a little of both.

I ask if something has been removed and reinstalled because it looks way too clean to be original. That and I don't see any insulation behind the heater. Makes me think someone has had that dash all apart before you got it. And they just did not line stuff up when they reinstalled everything.

That is the way my car and my buddies car is. Both have a big gap.

Cowboy - mine was the same. You won't be using it much anyway.

 :iagree: w/73E

we sealed up the gap with some cork tape (like what is used to insulate the low side A/C piping where it passes through the firewall) on my friends car and it still doesn't do much airflow wise.

FWIW I think the stock heater setup (non-AC car) is a joke. It can make you hotter when it's hot in the car and keep you cold when it is cold outside.
