I like this topic.

My little girl will look up to her mother and if I'm lucky, her father.  Sports figures, politicians, actors, singers, none of them are or should be role models.  Firefighters, police officers, servicemen & women, they CAN be role models.  Still, it's up to my wife & I to be the role models for my child.

To quote Charles Barcley:  "A million guys can dunk a basketball in jail, should they be role models?"

Sports can be very good for our health and their are role models with in them to be found.  The mistake is that we should be searching for role models based on their character instead of their talent.

Go Colts, Reds, and Pacers!

Haha, that does not surprise me.  It is truly sad there really isn't a clean sports figure for kids to look up to these days.  I remember back when I was a kid there really was such a thing as a model athlete. (Jordan & Reggie White) (except the Dallas front line that we usually called the FBI's most wanted list.)
1973 Dodge Challenger......................The ongoing project. (00/----\00)
1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin-Turbo....The sunny day cruiser (RTBoost)
1990 Toyota Celica GT Liftback...........The new daily & winter driver.
All-American Muscle: 'Cudas and Challengers...Still the Elite and always will be.

I dont follow any sport to any length...but from what I have witnessed of Cleveland Cavalier Lebron James.. He is off to a very good start.  Not getting into trouble, VERY well spoken  when he gives his press conferences,,,even after very tough losses, very active in the community here in the Cleveland area. I hope that this continues for this young man (he's only 22).  The only thing that he's done that I dont agree with is build this monster house (monster money)
In my opinion....Too much flash of the cash.... :2cents:

How about Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburg Penguins (NHL)?  This is one fine kid.  He heard that some fans had been standing outside is freezing weather waiting to get his autograph.  These were fans of the other team (Ottawa Senators).  As soon as he found out, he dropped everything to run out there and meet them.  Gave them all kinds of stuff.  Classy.  Oh, and he's pretty good with a stick too!
