What engine do people ask what is in your car?

Does it REALLY have a HEMI??  ...if I only had a dollar for everytime I answerd that question.

I have never got "Hemi?" most guess 440, I guess the 440 is quite a popular well know engine that lots of guys use and clone so I'm guessing that's the reason most people ask. Quite good actually: "440?" "Yupe".

Most of the people around here do not have a clue and just ask, "What's in it?"

I say, "it's a 360" and most respond with, "Well it looks good anyway"     I feel like saying, "Well, lets see your Muscle Car,"  but I cannot bring myself to say it.


I told one guy and he said, "That's a Ford motor." (bigblock)

and I said, "Nope, it's a small block Dodge motor."

and he said, "Dodge made a 360 back then?"   


Most of the people around here are Bowtie or Blue Oval fans and never even thought about owning a Mopar. 
Except for Rev, Redline, Old's Cool and GotJob of course.

for the last year and a half both my neighbors, 1 owns a NAPA & the other is a federal agent who owns a corvette, asks "when the Charger is going to be done???"

I have been asked the hemi question a couple of times. Mostly it "doese that have a 440 in there?" I had a fellow ask if the Challenger was a Hemi as he stood next to the fender.

They always call my Chally a Charger.....and oh yeh....now it does have a hemi...

I get the charger thing once in a while. Had a neighbor say that and his kid told him it was a Cuda. The engine thing is fun, when someone throws out a engine from some other company, I just tell em I got a 289 in there or whatever I'm feelin like saying 215, 460, 389, 401. In those cases I like matching stupidity with stupidity.

My car has the Hemi hockeystick stripes, a plate on the front that says 'Yeah...It Has A Hemi' and my license plate is 'HEMINUT' and I STILL get that question all the time!

Then if you could tell by the exhaust why you asking? 

I think the main reply will be does that have a hemi, as if that was the only engine ever used back in the day.    If it really does have a hemi, in a way it takes away from the nostalgia of having it because people don't realize how truely unique the car is.

No one really asks me about the engine, but everyone asks me if its my dads car. I just give them a dirty look and drive off.
