4 speed questions?????
« on: July 25, 2007 - 07:19:16 AM »
I have two questions here. First, is a 3 speed small block bellhousing the same as a 4 speed small block bellhousing? Second, will a 1982 A833 with both shifter mounting spots on the tailshaft work in my 1971 Challenger? I wasn't sure if all years would work or not.

The bellhousing should have mounting holes for both the 3 & 4 speed.  The tranny should bolt up.  Here's a good resource for info:

the 80s 833 will boltin no problem , I do it all the time , but it will be an overdrive version , you will need to bend 1 shift rod slighty to work , generally you will need to either cut the brg retainer down to 4.80" or open the bellhousing up to fit the front brg reatainer
