Company Raport
« on: June 23, 2007 - 09:27:17 AM »
Just wondering but, I once read on the back of a business card "the best compliment a customer can give is the recommendation to another" or something like that. My question is to the moderators. At least I think it would be to them. Has anyone ever considered creating a board listing the companies we deal with on a regular to semi-regular basis and our opinions of them. My concerns, as well as most I would imagine, is when your getting into a deal over the phone with a company you know little about usually involving large amounts of money and not being sure what the outcome will be. I have dealt with a very little number of companies because to my fortune the stock stuff was almost all there. Most of the stuff I needed was primarily after market stuff that I could get from Summit and Jegs. Both of which I hold in very high regards.
Sorry for the length, but if the board were built in a was the the subject was just the name of the company and the rest was comments, opinions and experiences, I think it would keep the topic manageable. If someone sees the company already listed, don't add another new topic just add to the existing. Anyone that is interested in researching the past experiences of that company could prepare themselves for a possible issue. Or maybe reassure themselves of a fantastic experience. Or maybe just avoid then all together.
My intentions are not to bash anyone. But Customer Relations is what I do for a living and I try my best at being the best I can at it. If I build good rapport with that customer, there is nothing better! I think those companies that earned it should should get commended for it. And those that fall on the negative should be forced to let's say sleep in the bed they made?
Any takers?

Well I do recommend good companies & try to steer people away from bad ones withut actually listing them
it is Ross`s site & he has the option to do this or not , I am not sure what liabilities could arise though

I brought  this up because of the fact that there are alot of comments about customer experiences scattered about. I think it would be more productive to see them in one place. I didn't realize there could be legal liabilities on an internet site. Especially a none comercial one. If CC took a formal stand against a company and posted it then maybe. But i thought freedom to make a comment was the point of these sites.

I think at present most members know who is "bad" eg: (Jims Auto Parts) and who is not eg: (Dr Diff). I think one telling problem I can foresee is that people have different opinions and have had different results from different suppliers/merchants. Example: I'm from New Zealand so I look for faster shipping and will pay more for peace of mind knowing my item will make it to NZ where as others may not pay the high shipping rates as they don't have to worry as much, per se. I like Year One, there prices are too high now so I don't shop with them but they have a huge range of parts all in the one place. You'll find others who can't stand them.

I think the easiest way would be to start a post in one of the mechanical boards, eg: "Body Section" for "Is Goodmark good?" etc etc. We do have a suppliers list somewhere in here, perhaps just start a single thread and when you have a question about a supplier post it there and ask if anyone is dealt with them. I myself can't see a need for a board as it would hardly get used, though, what do I know.  :2cents:
