Slap Stick
« on: July 02, 2007 - 09:13:15 PM »
Just curious about what to expect if I pull the slapstick apart. I know that there is only one screw holding the horizontal (upper) part of the T handle, but will things be as easy to put back together as it appears they are to come apart? Or will I have a bad time with inner workings? Mine is in dire need of some real clean up, including the entire face plate. I just want to know what I am thinking about getting into.

it is actually very basic in design , it really doesn`t come apart just clean & lube it , as long as the spring is in good condition it should work perfectly

I did it, its pretty straightforward.  If you want to get that black plastic out, it can be done.  There is a small "slot" in it that makes it run straight.  Problem is, that "slot" doesnt run the length of the plastic, not letting it come out of the chrome faceplate.  On one end of the black plastic, that "slot" is closer to the edge.  Pull that end through the faceplate.  Clean it up, and just lengthen that slot.  I did it with a hacksaw blade.  I didnt have my dremel at the time, but that would have probably worked better.  Hope this helps, and you can understand what I mean.
