Question about trouble lights
« on: July 09, 2007 - 08:48:11 AM »
I've just about had it with my old fashioned trouble light. It has a 75W bulb and I'm either burning myself on the shield (covers the bulb) or I have to position it so close to whatever I'm working on that it gets in the way. Then it ends up inevitably falling down and breaking the bulb (d'oh!).

Can anyone recommend something better than this?  Your suggestions are appreciated.

Get a fluorescent tube trouble light....they run cooler, put out the same amount of light, and dont break when you drop them.

Thanks Killer. I've seen different wattages. 13W? 25W? Which wattage gives enough light?

I have a 2 tube light. It gives okay light, but not real bright. The 4 tube lights are kind of big and ungainly, but they give more light. Personally, I have been thinking about getting an LED light.  I haven't seen them in use, but a friend swears by his, which is cordless and rechargeable. I'll probably try his light, just to help make up my mind. I have no idea as to the cost of the LED lights though.....
