Problem with reverse rod and 3" TTI exhaust system
« on: June 30, 2007 - 01:49:44 PM »
I just put in my TTI 3" exhaust system on my 70 cuda and now the reverse rod hits on the H-pipe so I can't get it into reverse. Has anyone had this problem before if so how did you solve it.

Also I have the correct reverse rod that TTI recommends.

Here is my setup in case you are curious:

340 small block with 4-speed
TTI headers
3" TTI exhaust system (H-pipe)
Flowmaster 40 series mufflers

One solution to the problem that I can see is to get the rod bent to make it clear but I tried myself and there is no way I could get the rod to bend. Does anyone know what type of shop I could take the rod to to get it bent.

-Thanks

bending the rod would seem to be the obvious solution , I have used a vice or the hich on my truck to bend them , also heat helps

I think TTI recommends the earlier reverse rod.  I broke my 1/2 rod trying to bend it but it was a cheap Chinese knock-off that had been broken, brazed back together and painted silver!  I just ordered new ones from Brewers.
