all guages off
« on: July 08, 2007 - 06:41:39 PM »
The 70 charger I just finsihed a couple of weeks ago is gone (I know I still have to post pics). One thing still bothers me all the gauges are off the fuel is runs low, the voltage runs high, the oil pressure runs low, tach is high. I was wondering if this could be in the voltage regulator on the back of the panel or if it could be the guages sitting for years with out moving?
Thanks
Todd

Real Time eng has a solid state upgrade for the tach & speedo
fuel & oil pressure reading low could be the regulator or the guages themselves

:2thumbs:  As  Chryco said, but also check out the earthing of the guages and instrument panel itself, 37 years creates bad grounding points.  :faint:

Yup, ditto that. My rallye cluster occasionally loses grounding and when it does the oil, temp, and fuel all max out. Amp gauge indication seems unaffected

The tach and amp gauge are independant of anything else. Meaning, if the tach reads high, it just needs calibrated. If the amp gauge reads high, your battery needs charging. How is your temp. gauge? That is connected along with the oil pressure and fuel gauge. Are they all reading low? If not, then I would suspect the fuel and oil pressure sending units... or the grounding of them.
