Dynamat or similar
« on: July 12, 2007 - 03:24:52 AM »
I am looking for recomendations for a sound deadener. I am planning to cover most of the interior metal in my Challenger. Anyone have any other suggestions other than dynamat? How much do I need to cover inside including doors and trunk surfaces?

I have dynomat in my Expedition and it works awesome....I've used it for 15+ years on all my stereo systems and wouldn't live without it.

I did my entire interior with B-Quiet and it worked great...

Much cheaper than Dynamt, but comparable sound deadening capability.

I just did my 71 Cuda with Second Skin and am very happy.  Don't know if their is much difference in products, but here is an interesting artical from a guy with way to much time on his hands.

I would use the dynamat type on the floor and the closed cell type sheets  an the roof and sail panels.  The closed cell stuff is the small bubble rap type bubbles covered on each side with a silver sided plastic.  I bought rolls of it from ACE hardware. They can order the larger rolls from the warehouse.

For my Challenger, I went to the Lowe's carpet dept. and bought a couple of yards of the shredded type carpet padding.  I glued 2 layers above my headliner.
