Did you ever notice that Landys 73 was the car he ran earlier?  He just changed the grille.  Look at the side marker lights.

Most of the racers just updated the sheetmetal/grills/taillights on a proven chassis. Sox and Martin did it, Carlton....much easier to replace sheetmetal that to work the bugs out of a new chassis setup. The old Peter Principle in action.
