I have a McCovey baseball card from way way back. When I was growing up I had no idea he was such a great player because all I heard about was Willie Mays as far as Giants players.

My favorite game was with my paw. My hero Nolan Ryan pitching and the A's (Eckersly, Willie McGee, Canseco, Henderson, Big Mac).

 

One of the first few games I attended was the Mets hosting the Braves in '73. It didn't matter one speck that they were near the end of each one's career, but seeing Henry Aaron playing against Willie Mays was pure bliss

gotta love that pic. I lost interest in the game long ago. my wife and i still talk about when we were kids watching nolan Ryan, Mike Piazza, and when some of the interesting folks joined i.e. Hideo Nomo now there was a fun to watch pitcher.  BTW, not that old so some of these players were back in the early 90s and late 80s
