If it's a good running engine, and not smoking, then it's a good deal. You can upgrade later. There are tons of things you can do to upgrade that 440.  :naughty:

If it is sound, it will work great for your car. I paid 140 for an old 68 polara with a 383/2. I put it in my Challenger and it ran great until I pulled it in favor of a 340. I would at least hear it run and do a compression test on it before plunking down the green.

I bought a 440 out of a late '70s Motor home. It only has 50k miles on it and the guy must have changed the oil in it everytime he had a trip because when I pulled the intake, valve covers and oil pan the inside was very clean. No oil, water or sooty build up anywhere.  The RV-3 blocks are very thick and mine had a forged steel crank in it too.
The heads use a smaller plug to give you more room for the wires.    GET THAT MOTOR!
