JUst to be sure my electrical problems aren't being caused by a bad ground, here's my current setup:

Negative cable from battery is connected where the throttle bracket bolts to the intake. I've got the bolt, negative cable, throttle bracket, intake.

I know the aluminum intake won't ground properly, but I had assumed that the negative cable would be grounding through the bolt to the block.

This sound right?

When I set it up initially, I was going off of pics of 70-71 six-pack setups, forgetting that these cars originally had iron intakes.

That isn't an issue as aluminum can conduct electricty reasonably well. However, do you have a block to chassis ground strap in place? You usually find it on the passenger side from the cylinder head to the firewall. Without it you are at risk as it is possibly to isolate the engine from the chassis. Unlikely, but possible with rubber motor and trans mounts , bushed linkages and rubber hoses.

Thanks, and I'll check on that other ground.

I didn't know I was supposed to have another one aside from the one at the intake manifold.
