need a new fender tag
« on: July 30, 2007 - 10:45:04 AM »
First off, my car is not original and I am not a numbers matching kind of guy, but I would like the tag on the fender to be readable. I have the tag, but its almost rusted away in places. THe VIN tells me its a real CUDA, but the build sheet was pretty much gone- I only got a small piece of it.
Is there a way to send my tag to someone and get it redone?

Thanks, George

I ordered one from Galen and it took 6 months with still no tag, cancelled my order. Placed order with data tags and got it back in under two plus it was cheaper. I also heard that Galen has Data Tags make his then pretty much resells them to the purchaser  :dunno:
Ask Barry if he would look at your tag before you order it. He will have the best idea what the hard to read letters are.

I have used data tags not for this but for other things and they treated me right. I am still waiting on things from Galen and it has been over 10 months.

I am not too concerned about this tag,  but right now I do need to see a CAR that is painted the 1970 color ORANGE. It was a special order 999 code and is lighter than both Vitamin C and Tor Red.

ANY IDEAS WHERE I CAN SEE A CAR, not just a CHIP?

THANKS, George

George,

I can't help with your car color question. I did have a fender tag made up by Datatags.com The guy's name is A.J. Backeast, if I remember right. I only had to answer about 100 questions about options and such, but he did a good job.

I believe the color you are referring to was called 'Omaha Orange' and there was an article in Mopar Collectors Guide with a 69 Road Runner in that color a couple of years ago, maybe someone else on the board remembers the month/year of the article and you could order a back-issue from MCG, it was a lighter shade than Vitamin-C.

Take some nice clear photos of the tag, front and back and email them to me. The larger the file size the better. The broadcast sheet too. I will see what I can do with what you have.

As far as the 999 paint goes, it could have been virtually any shade of orange that was commercially available at the time. Check an area of the car that is not likely to have been disturbed, like behind where the brake booster or master cylinder monts to the firewall.
