Fuel Pump fittings?
« on: August 01, 2007 - 12:31:49 PM »
I have a Carter fuel pump on my car, does anybody know what size the outlet fitting is? my 1/4 NPT to AN didn't fit. I could get it to take the first tread, but it stopped there. Here is a link to the pump. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=CRT%2DM6866&N=700+4294925239+4294839053+4294891547+4294908078+4294840100+115&autoview=sku

That's a tube fitting for a hard line (if the link has the right picture), not NPT which is tapered thread. Get a piece of 5/16" hard line (or the old carb fuel line if you still have it) and it will thread right in there. Notice that the fitting has a tube seat like you would see in a brake line fitting. NPT fittings don't have a tube seat.

Yeah, I noticed the tube seat. So there is no way to make it work with my AN fuel line? I have to tread the hose down the old hardline then..

I'm sure that someone makes a 5/16 inverted flare to -6 (or whatever size AN line you are using) adapter. here are some for reference.

just need to determine what size line you have coming out of the pump. If it's 5/16" tube or 3/8" tube. The thread sizes will not be the same as the tubing size. I think the 5/16" uses a 1/2" thread tube nut and the 3/8" uses a 5/8" thread tube nut.
