Salvage Yard Cars
« on: August 07, 2007 - 06:54:53 PM »
I was in a salvage yard looking at a Camaro for a buddy of mine (yes, I know, but he loves them) and I saw three cars that I thought would be of interest here.  We weren't moving quickly, but I didn't have a chance to stop and look them over. I'm guessing on years.

1-a 68 or 69 Satellite.  The yard owner claims it's a Road Runner, but it looked like a regular Satellite to me.  He says it's a 383, with 11,000 original miles. HEavy surface rust, but looked straight as we went past it.

2- a 57 or 58 New Yorker, big fins.  Looked the same condition at the Satellite.

3- a 73 or so Satellite Sebring.  I think he thought this was a Challenger, which was the reson he took me back to show me.  Body looked very solid and straight with surisingly little rust.

There were a bunch of Chevelles as well (3 70s, I think), Firebirds, an early 60s Ford, lots of stuff. If you're interested send me an e-mail or a PM and I'll forward his info.  I'll be happy to go get some pictures of stuff for people who are interested.

Yes, it is

I'll head out thre sometime in the next couple of weeks and get some shots.  Right now, we have record heat in my corner of NC (air temp of 102 for the past couple of days), so I'm hiding in the AC.

I"d actually love to see somebody do something with these, especially the NEw YOrker and the older Satellite.  If it wasn't for the fact that I just bought a house I'd try to snag at least one of them.
