Heading to Chi-Town
« on: August 13, 2007 - 10:36:58 AM »
I am heading to Chicago on a business trip this weekend and I may have a day off. I will be about 5 miles from the historic site of Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge. Is it worth the time to stop by and actually see the old building? Also, is there any good cruising in the area Friday or Saturday? I do not know what night I will be free. I will be in the vicinity of W Randolph and N Lasalle st. Thanks

Though I don't know of any cruises in the city, there's a suburb about half an hour to hour away (depending on traffic) that has a nice little cruise n' show on Friday nights.  It's off Highland Avenue from I-355 in Downers Grove, Illinois. (Odgen Ave. (Hwy. 34) I think would get you there, but after going through a bunch of other 'burbs.) :2thumbs:

Grand Spaulding is in such sad shape, I don't think it would be worth going too.

Like said before, little car action in downtown.  Everything is in the burbs.

Yeah, GS Dodge is in a kind of shady part of town and there's really nothing there to see, but you should take a trip out to the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, IL, while you're here.  There's a list of Chicago-area cruise nights here:

Hope it helps.
