I hope not. Starters are a bastid to change if you have headers.   :pullinghair:

Its not the starter! But.....
Last night I reconnected everything with the key off  and tried again. Ths starter cranked over! Bullitt I think it was the praying emotion you posted!
My buddy then sugegsted I checked voltage at ECU to confirm I did not fry it. Well he went to pull it off (yeah that's right with the key on) and the engine backfired through the carb! Not like it did earlier in the day but def. a carb burp. It was midnight so I could not go further but here is what he thinks happened in both cases:
We had compression with the turning over, some fuel must have remained in the rails of the manifold and when I connected battery and he wiggled ECU it finished the circuit to create spark which ran through the system and hit one of the cylinders which fired. Sound good? I am off to see which cylinder by removing the cap and rotor. I am also going to swap out the ECU I have an extra, also swap the wire harness for ECU, before I swap harness I will see if it is bad. Please add your comments and stop laughing!
