Hey guys, has anyone taken a solid rear valance and cut the exhaust holes out of it. My car is an AAR Clone so it doesnt have them. I want to switch to the rear exhaust and am wondering what is involed aside from getting another rear valance.
thanks

As cheap as the valances are out there right now it wouldn't be worth it. To answer the question though you would have to weld patches over the smaller exhaust holes and beadroll the outlines of the 'CUDA cutouts before cutting them out.
Harder then it sounds because nobody has a bead roller that has a neck deep enough to insert the whole length of the valance. You could use a Pneumatic roller but those are few and far between.
I made one once by buying a cheap 'CUDA valance that the ends were damaged. That's common because people put long shackles on their cars that hit and chew up the bottom edge. I cut the ends off and welded good ends from a Barracuda valance. Lots of measuring and cutting but it turned out OK....

You'd have to cut the metal and roll the edges to make it right. If it was an original valance I wouldn't ruin it. The originals are much better metal than the new stuff. I'd try to find an original with the cut outs or a repop and get it to fit. I bought a repop for my Challenger but it was flimsy so I fixed the rust hole in my original with a sheet metal patch I welded in.
