Hood latch assembly versus the secondary safety latch assembly

When I bought my car years ago, it did not have a hood. When I rebuilt it, I used billet hood pins. I am wanting to install the real hood latch setup, but I see that I have the option of a secondary safety latch as well. Are both of these used on the cars or just the regular latch set up?

There is also the option of a inside hood release, but it requires a different latch and the cable assembly that goes in the car. Don't forget you'll need the pop up spring and latch hood loop as well.   Just FYI.
