335 Tire with Leaf Springs
« on: August 31, 2007 - 02:07:16 PM »
I'm fitting 335 tires into my 70 barracuda.  So far I've mini-tubed the inner wheel wells so the the 335/18 tires will fit.

My question is with the 3" leaf spring relocation kits how do you go about moving the rear shackles to the inside of the frame.  I would appreciate any ideas.

Also what is everyones' opinion of the Magnum Force leaf springs or Firm Feels leaf springs.

The Mopar performance Chassis says not to move the springs inside or beyond the longitudinals or evil handling characteristics may occur..

If your putting them in the longitudinals then you will have alot of cutting and fabbing to do. Not the easiest Mopar trick out there and it's hard to get them perfectly straight.  Get a Chassis book for explanations and diagrams for everything Mopar  :2thumbs:

Since you already used the 3" kit, which cuts into the lower frame, I would weld in 2 new rear rails straight back to run parallel with the wheel tubs. then add your rear shackles.

E-body springs were put in angled outward at the rear for handling. The old Mopar Performance chassis books explained that moving the frame inward at the rear would gain additional tire clearance.
