440 blower motor
« on: August 28, 2007 - 11:11:31 PM »
Anyone got any suggestions on building a blown 440. I am planning on going with a BDS 871 kit. I am going to install it in a 33 Plymouth coupe, and would prefer to run on pump gas, but would not rule out alcohol. Would one of Brandon's kits at 440 Source work for the rotating assembly. What about heads? I have a set of 906 heads that have had work done, how much I am not sure, I was told the heads came off a 9 second Road Runner. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I dont se how you can run 9's with 906's at best 906's fully ported/big valves are 600HP...to get in the 9's with 600hp the car would weigh 2600lbs total???

there is a blown 440 73 challenger with 906's on ebay right now??? ask him what he runs??? it also has 8/71 blower...

We built the engine in Kellys Cuda , it runs 10.4 on pump gas with the 8 71 BDS system & a 440
with extra CI such as a 512 , 1/2 " stroke with 7.1 rods you should break 9s but I feel you would need more head to flow enough
it can be done with factory Iron heads but I would use a Indy sr or EZ head if I was doing it

I was just referencing what I was told to possibly give an idea for flow in those heads. I may or may not use those heads. The car will probably see little track time, mostly going to car shows, but I want more than 800 hp. If that means I step up to alcohol then so be it. Also I read that if I go with alcohol I should bump the compression ratio up from 8 to 1 to as much as 12 to 1. Any thoughts :dunno:

you need to build the engine for the fuel you plan to run , you need a lot more fuel supply [40% + ] with alcohol & more compression & you need to drain all the fuel out of the lines after each drive , if you let the fuel sit for as little as 1 week it can gel into a snot constancy & require replacing the fuel iones to get flow again

Why dont you just buy a procharger... a F1 Procharger and box stock edelbrock heads make 878 HP as per the supercharger store... :burnout:

I wonder what my stage 3 edelbrocks and a F3 procharger will make  : :scared:

MOstly because the 33 plymouth is not going to have a hood, and the wow factor comes into play with an 871. I want to build a high horsepower hot rod, and in the hot rod world looks play a huge role.
