Anyone ever seen a Kandy Oriental Blue 72-74 'Cuda?
« on: September 03, 2007 - 03:27:27 AM »
As I will be painting my '72 340 'Cuda in this shade of blue, (it was going to be Black), but after seeing Carl's 'Madeline' in the flesh as it were when she arrived, it's a fantastic color and a great paint job on her.. so I was wondering, given it isn't a stock color, has anyone spotted one around over there in the USA?  A pic of any Mopar in this one colour would be appreciated, As you may know Madeline has the white Billboard and white vinyl top, and makes it hard to visualise the body lines in the one color, obviously a "Cuda would be the go, as I can then get a clearer picture of how it will look in this color..cheers...Jim  ...............

My 70 'cuda is B5 Blue, well it's little of but you can't see that in the pictures. Check it out at http://cuda.widing.biz/

This Challenger was painted blue. The owner said it was a Viper color. It had a lot of metallic in it. I hope it helps.

Dad, it sure is a lovely colour and although I have always wanted a triple black 'Cuda for a split second the thought of keeping it that shade did cross my mind, but, black for me. Glad you're going that colour, best blue I have ever seen.

Thanks for the pics guys, and as you can see Carl's pic of his car from behind, notice the lighter blue changing to the nice deeper blue at both sides, as the natural light strikes it, and this is how it appears when looking at it from any angle, it runs from light to dark in appearance and vice versa, especially when up closer to it, not so noticeable in 6packCuda's  pic being further away.......nice.

It looks better than it really is in the photos. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car but not to my standard. I've never done things by halves or cut corners and what ever car I got was always going to be stripped and restored to the highest standard. Peace of mind knowing everything was done is what I like, plus, changing things to what I want, not "living" with the previous owners tastes. Plus, tearing it apart isn't the word, sounds too harsh, bag and tag then lovingly restored is what we're doing.

The blue & white 71 you posted above looks very close to the colour, looks smart.  :2thumbs:

I see nothing wrong what so ever with picking a color off a late model car and using it instead of the actual correct code. There have been so many advances in the refinishing business that it can be easier to get new shades. just think about it, if it looks pretty good on something like a Honda, it should look damn awesome on a Mopar.
