After-market A/C for shaker hoods
« on: September 20, 2007 - 08:35:01 PM »
I am looking to install an A/C system in my 70 Cuda.  Just put in a shaker hood which eliminated the stock A/C unit.  Does anyone know who sells an A/C unit which has the compressor located differently.

Appreciate it.

These folks have a kit with a smaller size compressor.

Bouchillon Performance (www.bpeusa.com) has a bracket that allows you to mount a new Sanden type compressor in the stock location - it also is SUPPOSED to clear a Shaker Bubble. They also make a "hidden A/C bracket" that mounts the compressor below the alternator but this requires that you use an electric fuel pump. I bought their stock location bracket and entire pulley setup but have yet to install any of it.. it should be very soon.

One final note... BPE's brackets are all made to work with the stock A/C Mopar pulleys (or the repops they sell)... If you have the correct A/C pulleys now then all you would have to do is buy their Sanden conversion bracket, sanden compressor and conversion fittings for the A/C lines. you might need to replace the drier too...

March also makes any entire pulley setup with A/C mount...but it is $$$.

Their stock location kit is exactly what I am looking for.  Let me know when you get your's in.  I'd like to see how it sits under the shaker.
