My 71
« on: October 07, 2007 - 06:58:11 PM »
Bought 71 challenger 2 years ago with no engine or trans. Barely have time to work on it.  Put in hemi 4 speed and 440. Getting closer. Why my brother in law would think it wants to be a chevy I have no idea. Guess he wishes it was worth less so he could afford it. Dates are wrong on my camera. Took the pictures today.

basically stock. Standard bore 69 block. Has the purple cam from about 15 years ago. Double roller timing chain but that's about it. I bought the engine and trans from a friend who had it in a 73 charger he totaled back in 1993.  I found a 70 challenger 318 3 speed and put the 440 4 speed in it and lost it in the rain on the metal grating of a drawbridge (I280 Toledo) the same year. I then found a 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe 318 auto and put the 440 4 speed in that the next year. After 1 year I decided to restore the Barracuda, tore it down and lost interest. Car sat in my garage for 10 years while I went through a divorce and got remarried.  Then about 2 years ago I got the 318 71 challenger no engine or trans. Sold the Barracuda here on this site because it needeed more work than I wanted to do.  Between my job, my 3 and 5 year old and my laziness it is slow going but I am getting closer.
