Engine Support Bar

Anyone ever use one of these to do work on their E-bod engine?

How did you support it on either side? Right on the fenders?

that tool is for front wheel drive cars, and the tool locates on the inner fender area.
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Yup, just set it right on the fender tops. Of course this was a car that was still destined for body work, so I wasn't too worried about any scratching or denting. I did not notice any obvious denting from doing so, but I suppose that would be possible depending on weight supported and the actual body lines it is sitting on.

Well.. i suppose You could use 2 bars, and some good neoprene padding underneath.. then for a 340, you're talking about 600lbs (approx) on 4 corners, that's 150 lbs each. I think it would be ok.

I used it with the I verticle so it was two contact point about 2.5 wide across the width of the fenders. I did this witha 360 automatic. I suppose a 4x4 wood block may work as well as absorb somesurface iregularities, but again, there is that weight thing.

Ther was a tech article in Mopar Action a couple years ago that showed using a piece of angle iron and supporting the engine with the carb studs and they dropped the k frame out of an A body to do repair work on the lower control arm stud.

They're both made from wood, which is probably acceptable for short term use, but I wouldn't go with anything less than (2) 2x6's.
