Lower control arm pivot pin
« on: September 03, 2007 - 08:37:00 PM »
Looking for a lower control arm pivot pin.  I notched one pretty heavily trying to take the bushing sleeve
off of it and need a replacemnt.  I know there are aftermarket vendors making these, but am looking for
an original pin.

I'm quite sure you will find one before 2 weeks is up. Look up member mopar clown. He probably has one. If not I will be home in 2.5 weeks and pull one out of a lower arm for you. 5 bucks plus shiping. Or the hole control arm for 25 but no sway bar bracket is on it. They make a tool kit to pull and install all the bushings. all under 110 bucks for the lower and uppers. Makes the job a breeze. Plus, if you were trying to get the inner sleeve off the pin, you just tap it with a hammer and it spreads open at the seem :2thumbs:

Thanks, I got the outer shells out no problem.  For that kind of money I bought a medium sized press on sale at Harbor Freight.  I just welded washers on the end and pushed them out with the press.  (That worked great on the uppers too).  I didn't notice a seam on the inner one.  I used a cutoff wheel to cut two notches to try to catch it with a bearing splitter, that didn't work and I managed to put a groove in the pin.  Then I slit it lengthwise with the cutoff wheel and split it with a chisel. I then did the same on the second one and didn't damage that one. The sleeves didn't fall in half when I split them, so I don't think there was a seam on either...
