Small Block Oil Filter
« on: September 20, 2007 - 02:09:10 AM »
What brand of oil filter are you using on your small block?    :working:

I had been using Fram since the mid 70's until around 2001.  I am now using an AC PF-13 which is a tad stubbier than the Fram.

 Napa also.

They say don't use Fram, but I had in the past on my 340, our Fords, and my boat. Over 500k miles total with no problems. Just got scared from the reviews I guess.

I use a Mopar filter. The short one because of the headers.

I know I have a big block, so don't bash me here.

I have a magnetic drain plug that collects the crap the filter misses. I at first was useing Fram filters, but have noticed a huge reduction on the oil drain plug since I switched to K&N.

mopar 3549957 will work which was the original one used. since then with headers on the a engine you could use the newer 4105409 is smaller in length and diameter, the 5281090 is the same diameter but shorter than the 957 same length as the 409, these all i have in stock roughly th same price as all of the aftermarket filters out there. i can sell them by the case if needed

Have you guys and gals using the shorter filters for header clearance tried the 90 degree adapter?

A-engine in the Cuda, short filter with Hooker 1 3/4" super comp's. No need to use the adapter just some else to leak. Plenty of room..

I use the Purolator Pure One (Advance Auto Parts) on my Challenger and Dakota.  I also have the magnetic drain plug on the Challenger and it had almost no residue the last time I changed the oil.

Purolator claims it to be the top rated filter in SAE testing.   :dunno:
