Right. The VR signal needs to be recitfied, and the way I see it is to use the GM HEI 7 pin module to do that.

NOw, the question is, is the signal out of the HEI module going to be the same as the one out of the TFI module?

This guy isn't running fuel injection, he's just got the module working in lieu of the mopar box. Now if i can only find someone running this on an EFI setup.

Without the larger tooth of the ford trigger wheel the FI system won't work whether you can rectify it or not. The computer won't know where #1 cylinder is and can't start the injector firing sequence. Unless you know how (and can adapt) the HEI module is going to react to the spout signal from a ford ECA, you are working with apples and oranges. Start with the hall switch setup, it will make everything much easier.

the PIP signal is what the ECA expects to see from the TFI module/hall switch - notice the signature pattern
the GM module/chrysler distributor cannot generate this signal

You're right, there is no way for it to know where the #1 cylinder is. After reading a little more on that megasquirt page, it says that if you're using an HEI module, you would have to get cylinder #1 at TDC, then align the rotor so it is just in front of the #1 terminal on the dizzy.

As for switching over to mega squirt, i've got all the pieces from a mustang. I plan on going with the mass air system. Also, i don't have a clue as to what cam i have in the engine. I bought the car from the guy who said he rebuilt the engine with a "mild cam". He had no specs. I was using the ford computer because it has the capability to adapt to engine mods. Is yours up and running?

Not a problem, yeah without that cyl #1 reference, the engine won't run no matter what you do. It would work with the bank to bank injection megasquirt but not with a sequential injection mustang setup. I had everything to run the mustang setup including an eec-tuner, A9L harness and so on. I still plan on using a 460 throttle body that I have and I have a 70 or 80mm MAF from a 460 van that I might try and use eventually. The mustang MAF sensor based system is very tolerant of cams that aren't too radical. As long as you get the injector sizing in the ballpark, it should be pretty easy to make it run nice. Which tag code (3 digit code) processer do you have?
I don't have mine running yet. I needed to prioritize all the different stuff I was working on and decided that getting the car painted first was most important to me. Then I'll get it running. Here is a pic of the engine/intake/rails I have setup so far

Those are some sick intake runners.. awesome. Umm.. my computer is... i don't remember. Heh. It's in a box on the shelf in the garage. Right now i'm working on an alterktion. I'm doing the research for the fuel injection system as a winter project. I think i've got the A9L as well. well we'll see. The cam is mild, so it should be in the ballpark, along with the injectors.

The fuel rails and intake plenum material I got from rossmachineracing.com - about the cheapest and they make everything onsite.

Depending on how comfortable you are with EFI and researching info, you could do a EEC-IV swap for probably under 1500 bucks complete.
