Tach wires?
« on: October 09, 2007 - 11:47:26 PM »
I bought a console with a tach and since I'm new to this working on my own car stuff I don'know how the wires are setup. There are three wires black, red and green. I'm assuming red is positive black is ground and green goes to coil but which side?

from http://www.centuryperformance.com/mallory/wiring.asp

Red to 12-volt "switched" power supply
Black to ground
Green to trigger (negative side of coil, or tach output terminal if using an aftermarket ignition control)
White (or yellow) to light circuit

Yeah, you've got it right. The green should go to the negative side of the coil if you have stock ignition setup.
