Clutch Fork Bushing...
« on: January 18, 2004 - 11:58:38 PM »

Well... finally got under my dad's Challenger this afternoon to take a look at his linkages to see if I could trace down the problem of his clutch pedal... this was reccomended by my Manual Trans instructor at college... ::)

Here's the problem... the pedal drops about half way down without being resistful... then, the rest of the way you have to use ALL of your leg muscle to push it in... I was told to start by checking the linkages...

Got under the car and found that the Fork Bushing that's on the Fork Rod was really worn badly... so, I pulled the clip that held the Fork Rod on, and pulled that out to get the bushing out... turns out the bushing is REALLY worn... if this is the problem and we replace just the bushing... will this cause a problem with the clutch fork?? Should the fork be replaced also?? And, if the latter, is that do able with the tranny in the car??? ::) ??? ???

I've got the fork bushing.. I'll try to remember to snap a couple pics of it...

I doubt the little rubber bushing will make any significant difference , more likely there is a problem in the pressure plate
