Running 70 440 Magnum HP2 - Kansas City - SOLD!!!
« on: October 24, 2007 - 11:43:40 AM »
SOLD.  SOLD.  Gladly sold it to a guy with a near survivor 70 Coronet R/T that broke its engine early in life.

Removed from believed to be a 70 Charger R/T in late 69, and installed in a 69 D200 Camper Special truck. The factory 318 didn't haul the slide-in camper very well, so owner installed the 440 for more power.  Owner added cruise control, and truck was taken on long trips.  Thus, the majority of the miles on the engine are highway miles.  Original owner sold truck about 2 years or so ago to a friend of his grandson's.  I then bought it from the grandson's friend.

Running and driving engine, appears to have never been apart. Starts easily, no noises, no smoke. Still wearing it's original HEMI orange factory paint, though flaking off in most places. Has that great 60's "muscle car" mild lope at idle, with it's factory cam still in place.

:bananasmi  In addition to the factory long block assembly, you get the following Factory OEM Original parts (all except carb still on engine):

Unsilenced 4 Barrel air cleaner (base outermost lip trimmed about 1/16", had to compare it to another factory base to tell)
440 Magnum pie tin
70 440 auto 4 barrel carb (will need rebuilt)
70 440-4v intake manifold (1 year only manifold)
70 440-4v points distributor #3438222 per tag, correct for auto or manual
70 HP Valve Covers
Water pump and housing
Harmonic balancer (has ellipitcal weight, yep, "SIX-PACK" rods inside   )
70 "HEMI" oil pan and dipstick/tube

Some items not included are the brackets, pulleys, fan, fan clutch, exhaust manifolds (were from a C-body to allow fitment in the truck. One of the factory HP manifold "long nuts" were re-used to attach the C-body logs), truck motor mounts. The new Carter carb currently on the engine does not go in the sale.

Your purchase will be kinda like buying the original untouched engine out of a guys 70 Charger R/T at the local car show.

Based on the VIN, 90+% chance this engine came from a 70 Dodge Charger R/T built in St. Louis. There is a remote chance it came from a 70 Dodge Coronet R/T, but so few of them were built, it is a slim possibility.

Block has a casting date of 7 26 69 .

Engine assembly date on top pad is 9 3 (Sepetember 3rd), followed by HP2.

$2995.  I will pull the engine at my expense.  Transportation will be the responsibility of the buyer. For $1.00 per practical mile One Way I will deliver or meet someone within a 300 mile radius of Kansas City (Such as, but not limited to, Springfield, MO, Tulsa, OK, Des Moines, IA, St. Louis, MO, Omaha, NE, Wichita, KS, etc. etc. etc.).  (And yes, you could buy the whole truck and drive it home, will need rear tires and hole in original radiator fixed.  Needs back glass, not re-installed after slide-in camper was removed. 3/4 ton, 4 Speed, Dana 60 with 3.54 gears, non-suregrip.)

Lonnie in Greater Kansas City.  Email (leave out spaces) kclatrans at sbc global . net . Feel free to PM also.  Wanted to try here, before going the online auction route.

Edit: 70 VIN # 0G119899 .

Strong indications this engine was from a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, or Coronet R/T. Possible VIN's to aid searches: XS29U0G119899 , WS23U0G119899 , WS27U0G119899 , XS29V0G119899 , WS23V0G119899 , WS27V0G119899 .

Edit:  Added thumbnail pic (click on to see full size).  Air filter is extra tall, not stock.
