My New Project
« on: November 01, 2007 - 10:33:15 PM »
Hello folks! I just wanted to say Im finally a proud owner of a 1966 cuda. I was always looking for a great muscle car project and finally saw the right car in late July. Me being a Mopar guy...I fell in love with this car. My wife ok'd the purchase..so long as I sold my street bikes. (She dont like bikes for safety reasons) Anyways...I bought the car and the rest is history. Since then I've been working on it. Im proud to be on this site. I do have a question for the more experienced builders. I just rebuilt the rearend...which somebody had installed a Ford 8". I found that these were pretty decent street units. Im building a Rod out of this car..so originality is not so important. My question is....the front brakes are disc. I dont think they had disc on the front in 66. somebody put another front end on this....im wondering what it could be? Any ideas? is there a common conversion people did with these? Also...it has an automatic tranny in it..it was originally a 4 speed...im not sure what tranny is in it right now. I'm plannig on pulling the motor and tranny...so I'll find out once I do. What tranny's besides the 727 are worth keeping? Last question (I swear) Im thinking about running a 408 stroker in it...it currently has the 273...any thoughts on the 408 strokers? any advice/info will be appreciated. Thank you

'66 Barracuda Rod? Cooooooooool!!!   :2thumbs: :worshippy:2thumbs:

Want to try hiding the headlamps?
After an another user dropped by here, and wanted suggestions for rodding a Barracuda like yours, i thought that a grille without the round buckets would look real nice on a '66. How to do it, eeeh, well, i'm not really the one to answer technical questions. :-[

Oh, and welcome to CCC!
I'm already looking forward to read about your progress with this car, no matter how you decide you like it!

Welcome and please post some pic when you`ve got the time.
Had a look in my "Barracuda source book" and they came with disk brakes from the factory in -66 too.
