Help me build a fender tag!
« on: October 24, 2007 - 04:01:32 AM »
For easier reading, I downloaded the Word-version of the 1971 Buildsheet from Moparts.org.

I had to modify the columns quite a bit as it was different in a bunch of areas than what was seen on my own buildsheet.

Please NOTE:  I'm NOT trying to fake anything.  I have my original build sheet in poor, but readable condition!  I only transfered them to the Word (now PDF) so it makes it easier to read for the masses!

http://files-upload.com/files/579378/cuda-buildsheet.pdf

Few issues:

I have no idea how to tell if the car was built on Assembly line #1 (EN1) or #2 (EN2).  Any way to tell from the broadcast sheet?

Here's my 1st stab at it:

* EN2                         *
M21 M25 M26 M31 V7X 26
V1Y   U   C16 C26 C55 H51
GY9  PRY3 000  A09 020722
E61  D32  BP23  L1B 172875

(I removed Y05 since that's a 1970-specific and R11 since nothing on the broadcast sheet shows a radio).

I'm assuming "26" for the radiator since isn't that standard with A/C?
Gold leather interior???  Never heard of that.

I would be pretty surprised if anyone tried to help you lay out a tag from a fake broadcast sheet.

If you do have the original, even in poor condition you should post a scan of it.  :2cents:

Is a fake tag going to make your car look or run better???   Whats the point.

I'll be making one for Madeline but it will be in your face custom, ie:  540 HEMI - TKO 5SPD - TRPBLK etc Just a bit of fun. If anyone reads it and thinks I'm trying to pass it off then they obviously have no idea of what real tags are. Those who know just a little about cars will see straight away when viewing the tag that it's custom and just for fun.

Okay, I had a feeling folks will think I'm trying to commit fraud.

As if.

You're not seeing me add Shakers, Rim-blows, and power windows.

At any rate, my scanner is busted, but here's a picture of it for those non-believers:

Why do people add fake R/T badges or 'hemicuda emblems?  Makes it look better?  Makes it go faster?

I want to b/c I have a REAL BUILDSHEET and I want the options to be clear and legible, unlike my torn up, but legible buildsheet.

This car is going to get COMPLETELY changed (diff. paint color, no vinyl top, diff. engine), but it will be cool to pop the hood and show everyone:  "LOOK!  This used to be a gold on gold on gold GC w/barely any options!"

There was a tag in I believe Mopar Collectors guide that a guy made to mess with people who just go and read tags on cars. It was very funny, wish I had a picture of it to post.

Much better. How did you get the VON though? I can not make it out on your original?

72 Hemi, I think the owner of that car is a member here? There is a thread about the car here someplace, maybe the "newbie" section? The original tag was shown on Ebay before he bought the car, so I am not sure who he is trying to pi$$ 0ff. ;-)

I see your point, i just dont like the thought of someone making a fender tag. I started a thread about this already, and maybe two people thought the same way. Atleast you have a build sheet to back it up.

I have a repo tag to go on the car while the original will be in a safe location. I am glad the option is out there :dunno:

The VON was very hard to make out, expecially the 2nd "0" in 020722; however I can detect by the / through the "0".

As aforementioned, I don't know whether it should be EN1 or EN2.

I think the "2' in the beginning of the sequence # may denote it?

Someone else mentioned that G15 should show up, so I think it should be:

* 26  EN2                      *
H51 M21 M25 M26 M31 V7X
V1Y   U  C16  C26 C55  G15
GY9 PRY3 000 AO9 020722
