PCV Systems

I know factory style car had the pcv looping back around to the intake or carb but my performance book says not to do this cause of messing with the fuel / spark in the head and run straight to the header if possible.... is it that big of a deal???
My headers do not have the fitting so I think most people run the vent tube down around the side of the motor somewhere... thoughts ???

Unless you have problems with oil blow-by(a spurting out the valve covers), I wouldn't mess with it. The system where you weld connectors down by the collectors of your headers will only work well at wide open throttle.

Do you mean oil spitting out of the breather...I have not noticed any of that but oil does leak out of my valve covers somehow around the gaskets and I cant get it to stop  :pullinghair:

the pic below is what I am running on the one side and it has a built in pcv .... which i have plumbed into the intake manifold...there is a baffle below it in the valve cover....

could it be possible to have the breathers pushed in to far against the baffles so ventilation is not occuring which is what could be pushing oil out of the sides of the valve covers???

I did pull both the breather and the pcv/breather and they were both butted up against the baffle so no vent could get out of the crankcase....it is fixed now....... :working:

You are talking about a header evac system. You can get weld in bungs and the 1-way valve from Scummit and Jegs all day long. You just run rubber hose from the VC to each collector.
Two things: As said before, it has to be revved pretty high to suck the vapors out and if you putt around town or only briefly visit the upper end of your tac, you're going to leak more than you do now. AND you will need and free flowing exhaust, the vapors in PVC systems get re-burned, on an evac system that raw crank case fumes and gas goes to your muffs. These system will cake up a muff if it isn't a straight through design.
Remember, header evac systems are best used on drag and hot street cars. For a street or street/strip car a PVC is best.
