70 'Cuda 340, all original
« on: October 31, 2007 - 12:08:44 PM »
It's not looking like I'll ever get going on my 'Cuda project so I might as well offer it up to someone that can restore the car the way it deserves.

I found this one-owner car a year ago.  He ordered it new from Simpson's Mid-State Motors in Columbus, Ne, and picked it up in 12/30/69.  When he got married in '76 he parked the car, and it sat for the next 30 years.  Over those years a few of the parts were stolen off of it, namely the top end of the engine and some interior parts.  I didn't worry too much about missing the heads, intake, carb, etc., since I would likely replace them with HP parts anyway during the rebuild.  I've since bought new tail lights.

The car is somewhat rare.  It has bucket seats with column shift.  He didn't want a console there so he could either put his shotgun or girlfriend in the middle.  :2thumbs: The rarest part of the car is the body side moldings with surrounding pinstripe.  The owner of Mid-State Motors told him that those would be better for door dings instead of the hockey stick stripe.  Even in my 'Cuda restoration manual it says this option wasn't available in the 'Cuda (Only the Barracuda or Gran Coupe).  He also wanted the 340 instead of the 383, since it was supposed to be just as fast with the lighter weight.

This is a 100% numbers matching time machine from front to rear.  I have a 3-page letter from the original owner telling all about the history or it, original Chrysler corporation's warranty paper, color copy of the original title, Galen Govier documents and fender tag.

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

JD, Sorry to hear your going to sell the Cuda. I would love to have it but the money is just not at my disposal. Good luck with the sale.

I've had some requests for more detailed pictures, so I added 10 more to the 3rd Cuda page on my website this morning.  http://jstewart.inebraska.com/cuda3.htm

Main page is http://jstewart.inebraska.com/cuda.htm

Christmas is coming, and what better gift to give yourself than a numbers-matching 'Cuda!   :woo:

Thanks,
