Continuing my research and looking for a nice Chally Convertible and found one that has just been restored. See attached VIN Photos -- my "Caution" flag came up -- should it be?
Thanks

Looks as if the VIN tag could possibly have been restored....never hurts to ask the question of the seller....

Barry,
Why do you say it is a fake fender tag?

Barry,
Why do you say it is a fake fender tag?
He must already know of that car.

Barry,
Why do you say it is a fake fender tag?
Because it does. Another guy was looking at buying the same car a few months ago. He was suspicious the the fender tag was a fake, and he was right.
This is one of the best reasons to ask questions BEFORE you buy.

I figured that you must know the car. Too bad he doesn't have the tag pictured so you could give us some pointers as to what to look for.

Well, I do not give pointers on what to look for to spot fake tags.
The fakers read these threads too you know. I see no need to edjucate the fakers and "help" them make fake tags believable.

I hadn't thought of that. I guess I shouldn't be posting on how I can tell that cars are rebodies due to very subtle differences in years such as the amount of holes in the framerails, different sheet metal dimples, etc.
