71 cuda project
« on: October 29, 2007 - 07:32:10 PM »
71 cuda, originally 340 auto, now on it's way to be Hemi 4spd.  This is a true 71 cuda ralley dash,PS, PB, PW, 3 spker dash, 6 wayseat, front disc brakes.  I have new shaker hood w/ air cleaner( $4500), 426 Hemi crate motor($15000), dash retsored x "Just Dashes"($800), many new parts bought including headliner, billboards, Ralley Dash, insulation, new glass all around($2500)( I'd have to take inventory as parts were bought 2 years ago).  The car needs Body work.  I got burned initially when I bought, and then by body shop.  Car has been media blasted, but the body shop screwed up body work on rear.  The 1/4's need to be cut off, and replaced w/ new.  ( full 1/4s now available thru Sherman's $500-600 a piece)  front fenders are a mess, passenger side not as bad.   Most of the rest of the car is in good shape.  I know of good front driver fender for $2500.

Body work/paint and transmission is what this car needs.  I've got a lot invested and know I'm going to take a hit, but I don't have the desire to go on from here.

You beat me to it. I was just getting ready to reply when :useless:

But seriously pictures are worth a thousand words, because I have seen people describe cars as parts cars and a total loss that I would restore and many others would restore as well.

I may consider trades as long as the "BODY WORK IS DONE!!!" Ha

Several other items.  i do have a new rotisserie , I paid $1200 for that I'll throw in.  I would also consider keeping the Hemi and shaker hood if not needed or wanted, if you already have a motor and hood.  I do have a 70 cuda I would consider putting in.

I would like to get in the neighborhood of 45K for everything, or 25K w/ out hood and engine.

Finally, thanks 67vertman for the help w/ the pictures.  I do have others that I can email.

Well I went to houston today and almost bought an ebay 71 body that's for sale.  decided against, nice car but seemed to have body alignment issue's.  I'm gearing up to ebay my project...but am willing to take offers on part or all of the car.  For anyone who sent me an email, make an offer! Thanks, and you won't offend. My main objective is to get rid of the body.  parts and engine I know I can sell.
