Turbo question
« on: November 19, 2007 - 11:16:48 PM »
I know this does not deal with this forum, but I figured that someone might know what I am talking about.  My father came across a Garrett turbo real cheap.  I am trying to find out what it came off of, but I cannot find any clear answers by searching the web.

It's P/N is 1830497c93
The intake side has A/R .58 M 24
The exhaust side has A/R .69 M3 35

Does anyone have a clue what type of vehicle this went on?

Thanks in advance.

I'd help you, but I don't recognize the trim sizes.  As JS23U0B has said, it's most likely an aftermarket one.

Basically a turbo off a 7.3 Ford powerstroke diesel.
Could be any number of trucks, even a bus.
They list in the $1200 range, but can be picked up used under $400.
Diesel truck turbos are not a good source for cheap turbos to put on a hot rod gas motor.
Garrett makes a ton of OEM turbos, just because it is marked Garrett does not make it aftermarket, this one sounds like an original truck turbo.

Thanks for the info.  It is a new turbo so I know he got a great deal, and I understand that it may not work on a hotrod.  My father did tell me that the guy originally bought it to upgrade the one on his vehicle and never did, but that is all I know about it.

If I can find out what it goes on, them maybe I can give someone a great deal.
