Not too many cars actually sell.  Of the ones that do meet reserve, many buyers don't actually send the money!  It's just entertainment for alot of goofs.

:iagree: and it seems to be getting worse. I still use Ebay but mostly for marketing. Lately it seems I'm at a 50% success rate(low volume seller). This includes parts and a couple cars. Most of my stuff recently has ended with some scammer using a hijacked account. Looks like they are always trying to get account info. I'm assuimg they have some way to get to Paypal from there. Ebay has become quite the headache with little to no protection.

the other night i was looking through the ebay listings and i come across a 71. listing says 7k for a car described as not a trailer queen but looks mighty fine in the pic. way too fine in fact but to my amazement this car was supposedly about 175 miles away from me in racine wi.  i email the guy asking if the 7k is a reserve or selling price. and where can i look at the car. 15 minutes later the listing is removed.  the next morning i look it up in completed listings and find this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-Dodge-Challenger-RT-Great-Condition-Low-Miles_W0QQitemZ300169762099QQihZ020QQcategoryZ6198QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem the listing has changed the seller id is not the same and the car is now in dalton ga.  yesterday the same car appears but this time its in arizona with a different seller yet again. i see that listing has now been pulled as well

oh man i must be the luckiest man on earth just got this email from one philip hoskin.

I'm sorry for the late reply, i was out of town with business. You
contacted me about my dodge challenger on ebay. The price is $7,000.
About the car: it is in immaculate condition and has no scratch on and
hasn't been involved in any accident. The engine runs very well. The
car was always garaged and rarely used.

It is in showroom condition.
The title is clear; it is not a salvage one. I have legal documents by
which I can transfer you the title. The car is US registered so you
will not have to pay any customs. The car is located in Nashville and
I will ship it from here. I will support all the shipping fees. The
delivery will take within 5 to 7 working days (with insurance and 30
days return policy).

The service has frequent shared container
services. It will be insured at the delivery service. If something
happens on the road, you will receive the insurance from the delivery
service. As soon as the car arrives, you will test and if it does not
matches 100% to your expectations, you can return it in max. 30 days
from the arrival date. In this case I will pay the return shipping and
insurance fees.

ALSO ABOUT PAYMENT AND SHIPPING I WILL USE ONLY EBAY SO WE CAN BOTH BE
PROTECTED!
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO E-MAIL ME YOUR EBAY USER ID AND COMPLETE NAME
AND ADDRESS FOR SHIPPING AND AFTER THAT EBAY WILL CONTACT YOU WITH
MORE INFO REGARDING SHIPPING AND PAYMENT!
If you agree with my above terms, I'm sure that we can close the deal
as soon as possible. I have reserved the car for you until I will have
your final answer.

Thanks!

hehe that thing went from not a trailer queen to showroom condition

Guys, you have to know a scam when you see it. Any nice E-body being sold for 7K can't be for real.   :dupe: Especially when you need "approval" before you bid. Any auction that wants you to contact them outside of E-Bay is a scam. Also if they are in Nigeria, Italy, or just about anywhere outside the U.S. trying to sell the car of a dearly departed...  :violin:

 :iagree:

Usually the telling thing is if you ask for a phone number and/or to come and inspect the car.
