Anyone use this Proform Part (Drop Air Cleaner Base)?
« on: November 13, 2007 - 08:47:00 PM »
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PRO%2D66808&N=700+400405+324467+115&autoview=sku

see link above. I am trying to figure out if the drop in this base tray will be sufficient to allow hood clearance in my Shaker / Edelbrock Intake / Edelbrock AVS Electric Choke combo.

This looks like there is a lot more clearence for the choke and linkages using this base plate than if I were to use a standard (not totally round) drop base plate. Any suggestions? Experiences?

I called Summit and other places and no one can tell me how big a drop this has -- it just says "Super Deep"  :clueless:

Summit is a great store but those tech guys aren't so helpful.

They do give great returns, I bought some thin head gaskets but they were just steel with a rubber coating. Well I took them out by breaking the seal and was going to used them. Showed them to my shop that was milling the heads and he thought the .038 gaskets seal better for a long time. Summit return my $$ and also shipped me new head bolts without charging shipping again.

So, if I was you, I order a few drop base filters, diff. brands and ship back what you don't like. Sure it cost you $6-$8 but you get the one that fits the best.
