I cut my teeth on the Atari 2600, and have had just about every gaming system since.
I pretty much gave up on PC gaming a long time ago. Screen resolutions always changing or freezing. Drivers not working. Games hanging the system. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
The game systems have much better hardware, and are a lot less hassle. Just put in the game and turn it on. The PS3 has like 8 simultaneous processors running, there's no PC like that for under $3k.
I'm not dissing PC games, it's just that for me and the kids, the consoles are a lot less hassle. I can let my 5 year old play when he wants without fear of him trashing the system, or needing to reboot the PC.
