AM Radio still won't work
« on: December 14, 2007 - 12:35:57 AM »
I can't get either of my AM radios to work.  They were both rebuilt by Ward.  The FM works fine but no AM.  Does the antenna have to be grounded to the body?  Does the radio have to actually be installed in the car?  Currently I just have a ground wire attached to the case.  I can't figure this out!!  :banghead:

-The antenna only needs to be plugged into the radio.
-The radio does not have to be installed in the car.

ingredients: radio, antenna, power supply, workbench.

You probably already know this, but make sure you slide the AM/FM selector to AM and tune to a local, strong, AM station that you know the frequency of.   You should be able to pick up something.

This is the part that didn't scan clearly.  Hope it helps!
ANTENNA TRIMMING:
Adjust antenna trimmer by carefully turning back and forth until postion is found that gives peak response in volume.  Maxium output indicates proper point of antenna trimmer adjustment.

Thanks hooD!!
That does help.  I found that when I backed the car out of the garage, the AM did work!  Spent 2 weeks trying to figure it out.  We have some 50,000 watt stations in Seattle but I guess my garage does a good job blocking AM.  I still can use the tuning part.
