rear axle size
« on: January 27, 2004 - 07:58:54 AM »
Are the rear axle lengths for an E-body, the same as a B-body?,
in other words, can i swap a dana rear from my buddies coronet into my cuda without cutting ?

This is definitely a "Chryco" question. I'm almost sure the B-body axle will be a little longer. You can use it, but the wheels will stick out a little.

the E body diff is actually Wider then the B body  you can get new seats welded onto the housing & do the swaop though , you will need to get the pinion angl ecorrect to do this though

Just go down the the mopar performance store at your
local dealership and buy or order the Super Stock
spring hanger kit. No cutting or welding and it bolts
that B-dana right in.
Gives you extra wheelwell room too.
If ya got a little money left over use the 2inch longer
spring hanger kit and bolt in some new Super Stock
springs 8) 8)
They hook like a dog and rattle teeth fillings too

yeah, you got me...lol..  i am planing on maybe doing some bracket racing this summer. (and eating some fords and chebbys on the street too)
I am considering a new tranny with a trans brake and all, i just have to figure out if i can use a trans brake and keep my slap stick shifter, (want to keep it stock looking)

The slap stick would be cool but it won't work with a
reverse pattern valve body without modifications

Also the brake would shock the tires on the street and
just spin em.

We tried a brake on the track without changing anything
else and it was good for 3 tenths but hard on gears and
sprags. in that order..
1:50 60 foot times and tons of air under the front tires
but not as consistant on the little slicks we had to run.
