help with posting functions
« on: December 20, 2007 - 11:17:15 AM »
I notice when posting a reply/topic that there are a list of icons for different options a the top of the posting page. Things like bold type, italics, and the like, which is really cool. I never really paid attention to them before.

How do the functions for insert image or insert table work? I've got some spreadsheet info in both table and graph form that I'd like to post, but I haven't figured out how to get it in the reply yet.

Just play with these things and use the  'Test' section of the sight.  practice will make perfect.

Example ... If you want bold print, select the bold button above..... 'B'

you will see this appear on your screen(b) (b)  .......Insert your cursor inbetween the brackets for the 'b's
type the word that you want to appear as bold print.

When you use the "insert image" button, it brings up the [ img]   [/img] brackets.  You have to have a video hosted somewhere like photobucket, putfile, imageshack, etc. to use those.  Then you "copy" the url of the image, and paste it inbetween the "[ img][/img]"

To add a picture directly from your computer, click on the "additional options" below the text box that you type in.  Then browse for the file you want, and post.

Hope this helps some.

Aha! Since I don't use hosting, I just use the direct load from the aditional options.

So how come spreadhseet data gets all jumbled when it posts up? I also can't post the spreadsheet graphs either.

I'm off to play in the test area for a while....

I think it's because spreadsheets have a table associated with them keeping them "in tact".
When you [paste] them in an open format like this there is nothing keeping them align or formatted.

Shouldn't the "insert table" function then allow formatting, or this also "from a hosting service" convienance like the pictures?
