Is it possible to remove the seatbelt interlock entirely?

I have to rebuild my engine wiring harness, so I figure if I am going to change anything, now is the time?

So can it be done?

Yes it is possible. You should remove the excess wiring and you may have to block off the dash area where the "fasten seat belts" light was placed. I did this to my 73 Chally which has the light in the right side of the dash.

you will need a wire from the "g" terminal on the starter replay to the neutral safety switch.

Where should the wire from the started realy attach to the neutral saftey switch?

Good point about the seat belt light...I think I will just leav it there..iot has never worked anyway!

I BELIEVE its the middle terminal.

Man, I am not sure about this... I found what I think is the seatbelt interlock controller under the dash, and there are a lot of wires going into and coming out of it.

It seems like it might be complicated to remove all the wires.  I just don't want to screw anything up.

Any advise, or I am worried over nothing?

It is not so much that one wire, it is all the other wires that I am worried about.  I woudl liek to remove all parts of the interlock system.

It has never worked on my car anyway.

i just left the other wires  intact.

When I put my interior back together, I left out the controller from under the dash and wiring that ran under the carpet to the the seat belts. I wasn't conserned about the "seat belt" lamp working. The original wire harness & plug to the controller is still under the dash not used. Looked like a PITA to remove all that wiring - just leave it.
